Deontic Action Programs

چکیده
We introduce the concept of an Action Policy in the context of databases. Intuitively, such a policy tells us which from a collection of actions must be executed (i.e. are obligatory), which are forbidden from being executed, and which are permitted (but not obligatory) given a state of the database. We approach this by a rule-based action language which uses concepts of deontic logic. We define a semantics for programs in this language based on the concept of a status set, which intuitively describes a consistent global view of the actions. Moreover, we consider refinements of status sets, and we investigate the complexity and computation of all these semantics.

Specifying and reasoning about normative systems in deontic logic programming
In this paper we propose the usage of a framework combining standard deontic logic (SDL) and non-monotonic logic programming – deontic logic programs (DLP) – to represent and reason about normative systems.
متن کاملDeontic Integer Programs: A Note on Heuristic Deontic Reasoning via Mathematical Programming
We introduce two representations in sentence logic for deontic (sentence) logic, called version 1 and version 2. Version 1 does not represent deontic permission but otherwise resembles the Anderson reduction, absent the modal operator. Version 2 is a further abstraction of the Anderson reduction and is able to represent permission, obligation, and prohibition. As part of version 2 we use a “vio...

Deontic logic programming (DLP) is a framework combining deontic logic and non-monotonic logic programming, and it is useful to represent and reason about normative systems. In this paper we propose an implementation for reasoning in DLP that combines, in a modular way, a reasoner for deontic logic with a reasoner for stable model semantics.
متن کاملThe Possibility of Norm-Violation in Deontic Logics for Action Types An Analysis of Bentzen’s Action Type Deontic Logic and a New Semantics
In a recent paper, Bentzen proposes a semantically characterised logic called Action Type Deontic Logic, where normative concepts are applied to action expressions, rather than propositional statements. The logic offers solutions to many of the paradoxes of deontic logic. In particular, Bentzen’s semantics solves many puzzles involving the interaction of permission with conjunction and disjunct...
متن کاملEquivalence of defeasible normative systems
Normative systems have been advocated as an effective tool to regulate interaction in multi-agent systems. The use of deontic operators and the ability to represent defeasible information are known to be two fundamental ingredients to represent and reason about normative systems. In this paper, after introducing a framework that combines standard deontic logic and non-monotonic logic programmin...
